Part of the job of Speaker is signing things. The Speaker is out of the country this week, so I’m doing that. Today, I signed thirty three bills and a declaration recognizing someone’s achievement.
Bills
Each bill has to be signed four times before reaching the Governor. The House and Senate each have an enrolled bills signatory. Then, the bills must be signed by the Speaker and Senate President before going to the Governor. At that point, we’re just hoping for the black or blue pen, not the red one.
Declarations, Commendations, etc.
These are a nice task. It feels good to take a few moments to recognize someone’s hard work, achievement, or accomplishment. These range form someone doing good in their community, becoming and Eagle Scout, or anything else.
