Steven Smith for Speaker

Thank you to Dan and Carol McGuire for opening their home this past Sunday and providing hospitality. This was an opportunity for our House candidates to sit down with candidates for Speaker and get to know them. The format was that we each sat at a table, and the candidates and representatives rotated through. This provided an opportunity to actually have a dialog and answer questions. In one group, we had a long and detailed conversation about committee sizes and how to limit the number of the bills we have to process. I enjoyed this format and hope there are more events like this.

There’s an old saying, “all you need to start your own insane asylum is an empty room and the right kind of people“. Well, on a more positive note, all you need to to start your Speaker candidate forum is an empty room and an invitation. I’ll go anywhere to talk to anybody.
