I had the good fortune to go on Rock, Paper, Hand Grenades last night, and it was an incredible experience. The show dives into important political discussions and engages with various perspectives, making it a thought-provoking platform for viewers. You can watch the episode here.

I never know that to expect when I go on a show. This one was weird, it turned into me telling my origin story. The path of how I first got involved in politics to now running for Speaker. It’s a pretty good story with some unlikely twists. It has triumphs and tragedy. I don’t think I’ve ever just talked it out before. The initial unlikely victory, the years after of fighting to hang on. The deaths.

I’ve lost most of my initial mentors now. When I do memorial remarks, it always seems inadequate. But what really would be enough for some of these remarkable people?

I’ve been asked to do hard things in hard times. Talking through this was more like a therapy session than a tv show. It made me realize that I’ve been through some stuff. I have been forged in fire for this job and I’m ready for it.
