So far this week, the job has been normal. I’ve bene fielding incoming requests from Representatives, handling committee issues, and welcoming guests.
Yesterday, Rep. Thibault brought a guest to the office. Murray Bessette from the US Dept. of Education came to meet us and learn about New Hampshire. It is always encouraging when the feds show an active interest in our state.
Rep. Thibault is a Member who goes above and beyond. You can get elected, show up to vote, and go home. He does more than that. Between being actively involved in the work we do, and taking on additional responsibilities like encouraging youth to get involve dint he civic process, he is always trying to make things better.
An item that happened today is a good example of the detail of the office. A committee chair called to say that the Dept. of Safety was asking about a commission because they need to file a report. It turns out that new appointments to the commission were never done this term. Even though he is in Chicago, I was able to get this straightened out with our Chief of Staff.
Now, I’m working on press releases. It’s a fairly normal day.
